The Kitikmeot Inuit Association (KIA) delivers regional business development programming in order to establish new and support existing Inuit-owned businesses. This is an opportunity to join a growing organization and live in a vibrant community within the Kitikmeot region of Nunavut.

The KIA Business Development Officer (BDO) uses business experience and knowledge to work with clients on reviewing and revising business plans. The BDO helps clients with forms and applications, helps them access all available sources of funding and provides follow-up advice and support. The BDO also administers the KIA’s two business support programs and provides analysis to the KIA Board and staff on issues related to economic development.

The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of business principles and community economic development and have excellent understanding of accounting principles, financial analysis and evaluation techniques. Strong computer skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and the ability to learn new computer applications is a requirement.

Candidates should be outgoing and have good written and verbal communications skills. Candidates should also have knowledge of the agencies and government departments working in business and economic development in Nunavut. The ability to travel is required.

Preference will be given to NLCA beneficiaries.  The successful applicant will have a business management or related university degree plus 5 years direct experience, or a combination of formal education and a minimum of 7 years experience with a minimum three years in a related position. Fluency in Inuinnaqtun or Inuktitut is an asset.

Salary Range:  $74,927 to $95,254 per annum. KIA provides a comprehensive employee benefits package plus $19,800 Northern Allowance. Housing is not available.
