KIA Graduation Award
The Kitikmeot Inuit Association (KIA) supports and rewards Kitikmeot Beneficiaries who are seeking to improve their higher level of education and who want to increase their skills in the technical trades or other professions.
Graduation awards are provided to Kitikmeot Beneficiaries who successfully complete Grade 12 or postsecondary education. The size of the cash award varies with the level of education achieved, ranging from Gr. 12 to PHO program.
Graduation Awards
The graduation amount offered to a successful student is equal to the level of education achieved and is based on the following schedule:

Nunavut High School Equivalency Diploma (i.e. GED) | $500.00 |
College or Techincal School Certificate | $1,000.00 |
College or Techincal School Diploma | $2,500.00 |
Undergraduate Degree (ex. B.A., B.Sc., B.S.W.) | $5,000.00 |
Masters Degree or Advanced Professional Degree (Ex. MBA, MD) | $5,000.00 |
Ph.D | $10,000.00 |
Students who have received a Graduation Award for completing the first year of a two-year college program (certificate year $1,000) will be eligible to receive a second graduation award upon receipt of a diploma for completing the second year of the program. However, the amount to be received will be pro-rated to $1,500 the second year. (Diploma Grad Award $2,500 – Certificate Award $1,000 = $1,500 diploma year)
Application Process
Graduation awards can be made within six (6) months of graduation, providing that the necessary documents accompany the applications (ex. Proof of graduation: official transcripts, certificate, diploma, degree)
