The Lands, Environment & Resources department has many responsibilities, including:
Land Use Planning
Creation of comprehensive plans for how land in the region should be utilized. Land use planning takes urban development, protected areas, transportation routes, and cultural heritage sites into consideration.
Climate Change Response
Development of initiatives to reduce carbon emissions, promote renewable energy sources, and adapt to changing environmental conditions.
Regulatory Compliance
Provision of resources and support to ensure that businesses and individuals adhere to environmental regulations and standards.
Public Education and Outreach
Raising of awareness about the importance of environmental conservation, sustainable resource use, and indigenous cultures by organizing community events, educational programs, and informational campaigns.
