Chief Financial Officer (CFO): An Important Leadership Opportunity in Nunavut
The Kitikmeot Inuit Association (KIA) is seeking an accomplished Chief Financial Officer to provide financial leadership and help advance the organization’s long-term sustainability, accountability, and impact. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the CFO will oversee KIA’s financial management and the Finance, Communications, and Human Resources departments. As a member of the senior management team, the CFO will provide strategic advice and ensure KIA’s resources and corporate functions effectively support its mandate.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead financial planning, budgeting, reporting, investments, cash management, payroll, purchasing, and payables.
- Safeguard KIA’s funds, investments, assets, and financial controls.
- Oversee risk management, policy compliance, and the Finance, Communications, HR, and IT functions.
- Strengthen organizational policies, systems, and practices.
- Maintain key external relationships and support the CEO, Board, and senior leadership team.
What You Bring
- Seven to ten years of senior financial and organizational leadership experience.
- A professional accounting designation, relevant postgraduate degree, or equivalent senior management experience.
- Strong expertise in financial management, budgeting, planning, resource management, and risk oversight.
- Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, manage change, and improve organizational performance.
- Northern experience and strong judgment, communication, analytical, relationship-building, and digital capabilities.
Experience working in Northern Canada, an Indigenous organization, government, or the not-for-profit sector is a strong asset. Inuit identity, a meaningful connection to Inuit communities, and proficiency in an official language of Nunavut are also considered assets.

Compensation: $195,790 – $250,595
- Northern Allowance (NNA): $27,311.52
