Expression of Interest: Community Beneficiary Committee – Cambridge Bay

The Kitikmeot Inuit Association (KIA) is seeking one (1) Kitikmeot Inuk Beneficiary from Cambridge Bay to fill a vacant position on the Cambridge Bay Community Beneficiary Committee (CBC).

The CBC consists of five Cambridge Bay community members from the community of Cambridge Bay. The CBC members meet on an ‘as required basis’, normally approximately four times per year to deal with enrolment and land use issues.  A daily honorarium will be provided for attending CBC Meetings and periodic teleconference calls.

To be eligible to be appointed to serve as a member of the CBC, an individual shall:

1. Be a voting member of the Kitikmeot Inuit Association;
2. Be a Canadian citizen;
3. Have attained the age of sixteen (16) prior to the day of appointment;
4. Be a Beneficiary under the Nunavut Agreement; and
5. Have resided in Cambridge Bay for twelve (12) consecutive months immediately preceding the day of appointment.

The following individuals are not eligible for appointments to serve as a member of the CBC:

1. A member of Parliament or the Nunavut Legislative Assembly;
2. A member of an Institution of Public Government under the Nunavut Agreement (e.g. Nunavut Impact Review Board, Nunavut Water Board, Nunavut Planning Commission, Nunavut Wildlife Management Board, and Nunavut Surface Rights Tribunal);
3. A member of a Hamlet Council;
4. A member of the KIA Board of Directors or a staff member of the KIA; or
5. A person convicted of a criminal offence within five (5) years of the opening of the Expression of Interest.
