COMMUNITY BENEFICIARY COMMITTEE –SOLICITATION FOR COMMITTEE MEMBER – KUGLUKTUK

Kitikmeot Inuit Association (KIA) is coordinating a search to find two (2) individuals to fill two (2) vacant positions on the Community Beneficiary Committee (CBC) for Kugluktuk.

The CBC consists of five members from the community of Kugluktuk. The CBC members meet on a required basis (up to 4 meetings/year) to deal with enrolment of the Nunavut Agreement (NA) and land use issues. A daily honorarium will be provided for attending Committee Meetings and periodic teleconference calls.

To be eligible to be appointed to serve as a member of the Committee, an individual shall:
a) Be a voting member of the Kitikmeot Inuit Association;
b) Be a Canadian citizen;
c) Have attained the age of 16 prior to appointment day;
d) Be enrolled under the Nunavut Agreement; and
e) Have resided in Kugluktuk for the 12 consecutive months immediately preceding appointment day.

The following individuals are not eligible for appointments to the Committee:
a) A member of Parliament or the Nunavut Legislative Assembly;
b) A member of an Institution of Public Government under the NA (e.g. Nunavut Impact review Board, Nunavut Water Board, Nunavut Planning Commission, Nunavut Wildlife Management Board, and Nunavut Surface rights Tribunal);
c) A member of a Hamlet Council;
d) A member of the KIA Board of Directors or a full-time staff member of KIA; or
e) A person convicted of a criminal offence within five (5) years of the opening of Expressions of Interest.
