The KIA Congratulates Jeremy Tunralak on Election as NTI Inc. President
December 10, 2024 – Cambridge Bay, NU: The Kitikmeot Inuit Association (KIA) would like to congratulate Jeremy Tunraluk on his recent election to the position of President of Nunavut Tunngavik Inc. (NTI). Tunraluk was officially announced as the new NTI President on December 9, 2024, and will serve a four-year term through to December 2028.
“The KIA looks forward to working with Jeremy over the next four years to ensure that promises made under the Nunavut Agreement are carried out by the Federal and Territorial Governments.” says KIA President Robert Greenley.
Tunraluk was elected by a pan-Nunavut voter turnout of approximately 67% per cent of eligible voters and will work with all three Regional Inuit Associations (RIAs) on issues that impact Nunavut Inuit.
“I am glad that there was such a high voter turnout,” adds Greenley. “Protecting Inuit culture, heritage and language as well as providing economic benefits and opportunities is important on the community, regional and territorial levels.”
The KIA manages the lands and resources that support traditional and cultural values, providing economic and social benefits to Kitikmeot Inuit.
