Senior Project Officer

The Kitikmeot Inuit Association (KIA) has an immediate employment opportunity available in Kugluktuk, Nunavut for a Senior Project Officer. This is an indeterminate position.
Under the direction of the Director of the KIA Department of Lands, Environment and Resources (Lands), the Senior Project Officer is responsible for land and environment aspects of the major projects in the Kitikmeot Region, which currently includes the Back River Project and the Hope Bay Project.
As part of Lands Department, the Senior Project Officer will ensure that the Department carries out its responsibilities in relation to the development and operation of major projects. In this capacity, the Senior Project Officer will be responsible for lease compliance and administration, environmental permitting, licensing, and monitoring processes, budgeting, communications with mining company personnel, and non-government organizations, managing external consultants, and providing regular reports to the Lands Director.
The successful applicant will have a minimum of a University Degree in Environmental Science, Resource Management, Engineering, or a related discipline, along with three to five (3-5) years of professional experience. KIA encourages beneficiaries of the Nunavut Land Claim Agreement to apply Equivalencies may be considered.
Salary Range $122,552 – $151,316. KIA has a comprehensive employee benefits package plus $26,464.66 Northern Allowance. Relocation assistance is available.
