Expression of Interest: Nunavut Water Board

The Kitikmeot Inuit Association (KIA) is coordinating a search to find one (1) Kitikmeot Inuk Beneficiary to sit as a representative on the Nunavut Water Board (NWB). The NWB’s primary responsibility is to regulate the use and management of water in the Nunavut Settlement Area where project proposals have taken place to ensure that residents and communities are protected from development.

THE APPOINTEE MUST HAVE TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE OF THE NORTHERN INLAND WATER ACT AND MUST ALSO RECOGNIZE THAT INUIT AND NON-INUIT ARE FUNCTIONAL PARTS OF LAND USE IN THE NUNAVUT SETTLEMENT AREA. THE APPOINTEE WILL BE EXPECTED TO TRAVEL TO MEETINGS ON A REGULAR BASIS.
