NOTICE OF BI-ELECTION APRIL 2025 – KITIKMEOT INUIT ASSOCIATION: VICE PRESIDENT OF ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

Notice is hereby given to the voters of the Kitikmeot Region that a bi-election will be held on April 7, 2025, for the office of Vice President of Economic Development – Kitikmeot Inuit Association (hereafter referred to as KIA or the Association).

In order to be eligible to be elected and to serve as a Director, an individual shall:

  1. Be a voting member of the Association;
  2. Not be a member of Parliament, the Nunavut Legislative Assembly, a member of a municipal council; or hold an elected position with Nunavut Tunngavik Incoporated;
  3. Not have been convicted of an indictable offence or a crime involving fraud, breach of trust or immoral conduct within the five (5) year period before the opening of the nominations;
  4. Not be indebted to the Association or a subsidiary organization in the amount of $500.00 or more and has been in arrears for a period exceeding 90 days. Such a person shall not be eligible to be nominated or stand as a candidate unless the amount in arrears is paid in full prior to the closure of nominations: and
  5. Meet the residency requirements as set out in the Association’s By-Laws

Nominations will open on March 10, 2025; nominations will close on March 17, 2025, for this position. 

Nominations forms can be picked up from your local KIA Community Liaison Officer (CLO) or from the Chief Returning Officer at the Association’s Cambridge Bay Head Office.
